How to Make a Money Bag Cake

This unique way of giving someone money makes for a fun and exciting way to present a present! Resembling a cake but instead having layers of frosting, it contains an ingenious tube with money inside that you can pull to reveal its gift! Perfect for birthdays, weddings, graduations, and any special event!

Begin by baking a tall round cake that can fit a money tube inside it. Although frosting it before inserting the money tube is possible, waiting until after inserting will prevent it from sticking to the frosting and make removal more manageable.

Roll your bills/notes securely using rubber bands. Place each bill/note around a pencil or dowel (if necessary, cut a longer, rounded dowel for easier shaping of bills/notes) until all are secure in Styrofoam discs or cookie tins.

Carefully cut a hole in the top of the cake and tie a string/ribbon to hang money from. Additionally, cover any lollipop sticks with additional cake scraps if necessary for security. Insert the money tube through the hole and carefully tuck back in any excess when done.

Ingredients

Making a money bag cake can be an exciting and original way to express your thoughtfulness and show someone just how much they mean to you. Perfect for birthdays, graduations, or any special event – and an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your baking talents!

Start by mixing up a cake mix according to its directions on the package, baking and cooling it before decorating it with green fondant, and cutting a slit in the top to insert a dollar bill for extra flair! Finally, enjoy!

Make individual money bag cupcakes instead by folding some bills into each cupcake batter before baking, icing, and decorating as usual; your money will remain hidden until someone eats it up.

To ensure the bill stays securely in its place, be sure to use clean, new money. Furthermore, carefully fold each tab neatly so they fit inside the cake layers snugly. For an added special touch, consider creating a “money bouquet” by attaching bills to floral stems and arranging them on top of the cake.

Step 1: Prepare the Cake

Money bag cakes are an innovative and delicious way to express your affection and show how much you care. Celebrate birthdays, graduations, or any special event by creating one yourself! Follow these easy steps, and you can make one yourself.

Before beginning, prepare the ingredients. Please make sure both cake mix and frosting are at room temperature before mixing them. Next, grease and flour your cake pans; spread batter evenly in each one, then bake according to the directions on the box.

Once your cakes have cooled completely, it’s time to decorate them! Apply a thin layer of frosting to one cake before stacking the other one on top.

Use a piping bag or zip-top bag with its corner cut off to pipe a border around the edge of the cake, using either an offset spatula or knife for smoothing out and filling any gaps with frosting.

Make an extra festive touch to your cake by creating a chocolate caramel pull-money cake. Bake white or vanilla cake and spread a layer of caramel across its surface before covering it with another layer.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

Baking a moneybag cake is a unique and creative way to show someone special how much you care! Perfect for birthdays, weddings, or any special celebration. Plus, it is a fantastic opportunity to show off your baking talents!

To bake the cake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans. Combine cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a large bowl using an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds before switching over to high speed for two minutes of mixing time. Pour evenly into both pans. Bake the cakes for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in their centers comes out clean.

Once your cakes have been baked, allow them to rest in their pans for several minutes before carefully taking them out and cooling them on a wire rack.

Once the cakes have cooled down, frost them with a thin layer of green frosting and use a knife to cut a small slit into one of them to make a money bag shape. Finally, add several small bills inside for authenticity before serving and enjoy!

Step 3: Assemble the Cake

Make sure that the cake is tall enough and wide enough to accommodate the money tube, adding additional frosting if it needs to be extended into layers if your cake falls short of this requirement.

Once the cakes have cooled completely, frost them with a thin layer of green frosting.

Step two is to cut one of your cake pieces horizontally into two halves and stack one of these onto another to form the base for your money-bag cake.

If bills or notes won’t fit in your tube, either get a larger box or decrease their quantity to ensure everything fits comfortably. Make sure it is also sturdy so no one pulls on its string accidentally!

Once the money bag is inside the cake, it’s time to decorate! Choose from candy or toys as decorations; use a piping bag with a small tip to write messages; add gold dust or edible pearls for some sparkle; and don’t forget the wooden “Happy Birthday” topper!

Step 4: Decorate the Cake

Money bags are an elegant way to show your guests your gratitude at any event or celebration. Their unique appeal will surely bring smiles of delight – making an exciting and delicious dessert available at any party or gathering!

To create the cake, follow the package directions and bake two round cakes using a cake mix. Allow to cool, slice in three equal parts, and stack all three layers with frosting between them; cover the top of the cake with a thin green fondant layer for added elegance.

Use a sharp knife to carefully carve out a hole in the center of the cake using your money tube as a template, cutting around but not all the way through. Remove the cake and lollipop stick from the money bag before threading string or ribbon through the hole in the cake and placing the line or ribbon up through the hole into the cake hole, covering the money tube with additional cake and frosting scraps to further secure and weighing down tube.

An optional step involves using a piping bag fitted with a star tip to pipe an edge around the top of your cake and adding green and gold candles, along with “money” in the form of dollar bills from another bag.

Step 5: Insert the Money

If you’re using a cardboard tube as your source of money, ensure it is well-constructed – otherwise, the money won’t roll smoothly. Also, ensure it can accommodate the amount of bills or currency you wish to insert; too small would limit their movement and may even break off during use! Finally, when inserting money into the cake, slowly and carefully to prevent breaking bills! This cake will surely impress any party or event!
