The Zte Axon 20 5g Review
ZTE isn’t a massive name worldwide, but its Axon 20 5g is worth checking out. It has an interesting under-display selfie camera and many other features to make it stand out.
The ZTE Axon 20 packs four rear cameras, a unique under-display selfie cam, and a massive 6.92-inch display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. It’s excellent value for the money.
Processor
The ZTE Axon 20 5g Review packs a midrange Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. It’s an efficient and surprisingly capable device for its price range, albeit not a world-beater.
The Axon 20 boasts a 10-bit OLED display that can show up to 1.07 billion color variations per pixel. That’s a significant jump over the standard 8-bit panels that have 16.7 million possible colors.
Its screen is 6.92 inches and has an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It also comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner, a nice touch we’ve seen on a handful of other devices.
The Axon 20’s primary camera has an impressive B+ rating, with a 64MP sensor backed up by an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP f/2.4 macro sensors. Its selfie snapper, however, is far from up to par, and you’ll struggle to take clear and decent-looking photos.
Display
ZTE has a pretty impressive display on its new flagship phone. Not only does it have a 6.92-inch OLED panel that supports 10-bit color depth, but it also has a 90 Hz refresh rate.
One thing to note about the display is that the patch of pixels that hides the front camera does have a different resolution than the rest of the screen, making it appear less detailed. This can be especially obvious when watching videos or browsing web pages.
The display quality is decent, although it’s slightly flat. It’s not as good as you’d expect for a premium phone, but it should be more than enough for most users. And with MiFavor UI, you can tweak display settings like improved contrast, night mode, and screen color temperature to your liking. It’s an excellent option for Android users that want to customize their experience. And you can do all of that without any bloatware or extra apps.
Camera
The ZTE Axon 20 5G is a unique smartphone that is the first to feature an under-display selfie camera. The 32MP sensor hides under a 6.9-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED display.
Despite its outlier status as the first to debut an under-display selfie camera, the Axon 20 is a well-rounded device that offers some good performance for the price. You get a large 6.9-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and a 4220mAh battery.
MiFavor 10.5 is the UI that powers the Axon 20, offering a fairly stock Android experience. There are always-on display mode options and toggles for 90Hz or 60Hz for the refresh rate. This Z-POP utility lets you launch your favorite apps (similar to Samsung Edge) and other typical Android customization features.
Battery
If your ZTE Axon 20 5g starts to suffer from a low battery, you can bring new life to it with this replacement battery. CELLONIC(r) has developed a Lithium Polymer phone battery specifically designed for use with this smartphone and will give you the power and performance you need from your device.
The Axon 20 5G is a mid-range smartphone with many high-end features. It has a big 6.92-inch display, a versatile quad-camera setup, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor.
Its 4,220mAh battery should be enough to get you through a day, even with regular use. It’s not a massive battery, but it will allow you to keep the Axon 20 5G going longer than many other smartphones in this price bracket.
