During the summer months, a new free shuttle bus service offers transportation to the famous attractions of Newport. This program will expand weekend free service to public beaches and increase mobility to traditionally underserved areas. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is funding the program. The service will begin on May 27 and continue through October 31, 2022.

The program provides free transportation to people who cannot afford it. It also informs people about state-run transportation options. In addition, this program responds to transportation advocates’ concerns about access to the beach.

Parking
