Have you heard the terms “A plot, B plot, and C plot” when talking about television shows and episodes? This refers to three main story arcs in each episode; for procedurals, this usually centers around their case of the week as A.

Structures may also be nestable, meaning one arrangement encloses another, and its members can be accessed using the arrow operator (->). This process is known as pass-by-reference.

A Story

A story is at the core of any script; it should grip audiences and make them care about your protagonist and their journey. Additionally, this story serves as the core theme, and most other in-c stories will work toward supporting it; procedurals often utilize this format by having their A story revolve around one case per week, while B and C stories focus on leads while “runners” like those seen in The Office may provide additional plotlines that have long-term repercussions (for instance the pranks played out over several episodes).

Writing out these various stories will help your show gain structure and achieve harmony, as well as deepen your protagonist’s arc and emphasize its themes.

B Story

A B Story is a secondary plotline that provides you with an opportunity to play out the theme of your script while adding depth and emotional resonance to its characters.

The goal of a B Story is to give your protagonist an experience that will enhance and deepen their life, helping them to overcome internal obstacles and reach a satisfying climax. While love stories tend to work best here, any situation or relationship that forces your protagonist to confront their problems and grow can serve this purpose just as effectively.

Most writers utilize the B Story to focus on an influential character, but this doesn’t have to be the case; it could instead involve business transactions, political upheaval, or obstacles that help your protagonist reach the climax of their central conflict.

Save the Cat contends that a B Story should take place immediately following the Break into Act Two, that is, after the Inciting Incident but before the Fun and Games section of your script. A typical B Story typically begins with an issue or conflict that threatens to undermine the protagonist’s world, triggering it all together, be it simple or complex, but should have profound life implications for our protagonist.

The B Story should also serve as a place for your protagonist to encounter an issue that challenges their beliefs, values, or choices – typically, this will take the form of an incremental/incline arc, but sometimes it could take on other states as well. Ideally, your B Story will shape their decision at the climax of their central conflict.

Mirroring both stories is a popular method for adding drama. This technique is mainly used by TV shows that use ensemble casts – examples such as Rick and Morty or South Park are great examples of this strategy.

Romance B Stories often utilize interweaved problems between A and B Story conflicts to add complexity and tension to their storyline. People living real lives also often have stories similar to this; here, too, it can be tricky for audiences to identify when problems overlap from either story arc. To ensure maximum audience interest, it’s essential that audiences can remember which is which.

C Story

In procedurals, the C story usually comprises some ongoing/macro plot thread that pays off in the long run (or, for comedies, quick gag scenes). While not as dramatic and immediate as A and B stories, its purpose should ultimately help advance plot points, character arcs, or themes; for instance, the A story might include C stories, such as recruiting new officers. Such “runner” stories don’t contain as many beats but still add depth to the narrative by providing another layer.

Runners may become significant parts of the narrative in time; however, they should always have some thematic connection to it.

Theme

The theme is the message a writer wants readers to take away from his characters and story. That is why Christ’s parables and Aesop’s fables endure, as do classic novels such as Les Mis and Catcher in the Rye that continue to be taught in schools; their themes touch hearts while altering ideologies.

A story’s theme goes deeper than a plot summary or moral. It represents what your protagonist will learn (or not know) by the end of the narrative arc, illustrated through character progression throughout. Instead, good themes should come naturally out of your characters’ struggles and experiences in their world.

Typically, protagonists begin the story with an inaccurate worldview or problem, then challenge and explore its gray areas throughout. Finally, at the conclusion, they synthesize and prove the true thematic statement. Meanwhile, side characters may offer exaggerated, inverted, mirrored, or complex views on the theme topic that help the protagonist evaluate and test his beliefs while learning something.

Theme can also refer to the world or society of your story and can be explored through symbols or characters that embody specific ideas. For instance, Moana depicts this theme through Maui’s struggles to get his heart back from Te Fiti; therefore, the Moana universe (or whatever fictional universe your story takes place in) depicts power struggles between themes in your account.

Megajoules are used as a unit of energy measurement. One megajoule equals one million joules. Joule is the SI-derived unit for energy in the metric system; one megajoule represents the work required to move an electric charge weighing one coulomb through a potential difference of one volt.

The unit of energy

The unit of force

But while the XL may offer enhanced visuals and camera performance, it still faces many of the same limitations that plagued its predecessors. Battery life remains a significant problem with both platforms – however, there’s no evident improvement with either model despite having more important cases.

Exclusive games

If you love Nintendo 3DS games, then the New Nintendo 3DS XL may be an ideal upgrade for you. This upgraded system boasts an expansive screen and more robust build while offering exclusive titles not found elsewhere. However, new buyers may find its confusing names daunting – with “New” being one such name often leading to confusion for consumers.

Nintendo has made one of the most significant upgrades to their 3DS family with this XL model. Boasting two screens that are 90 percent larger than its predecessor model, you’ll notice more detail while playing 3D games and also benefit from improved battery life – you could easily keep charging it up overnight! The XL also boasts better battery life – holding its charge for days at a time!

The new 3DS system is an ideal upgrade for anyone considering purchasing their first one, thanks to improved graphics and longer battery life. If you already own one, however, then this may not be necessary, and it would be prudent to wait until exclusive games become available on it before upgrading.

While the Nintendo 3DS XL is an improvement over its predecessor, it does not bring many new gameplay features. One notable change is support for Amiibo figurines; these collectible figurines allow users to unlock characters in games such as Super Smash Bros and Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Nintendo also made some minor upgrades to its handheld, such as a revamped design and enhanced controls. Furthermore, the XL supports SD cards to expand your gaming library more quickly; however it doesn’t offer backward compatibility with physical or digital games created for previous generations of Nintendo systems.

Note: Unfortunately, the new 3DS XL does not support older 3DS game cartridges due to new clamshell and faceplate designs requiring different-sized cartridges – a major disappointment for fans of older games!

Homebrew enthusiasts have confirmed that, although Nintendo keeps the exact details of its CPU/GPU specifications secret, the 3DS XL is slightly more powerful than its predecessor – helping it run games more smoothly with fewer glitches – rendering more realistic textures and objects than its original system while still falling short of console-level performance.

One of the XL’s standout features is its built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling you to play online with friends or download free games from Nintendo eShop. Furthermore, its improved touchscreen is more responsive and has been designed with a lower profile to make it easier to hold. Again, its new light sensor automatically dims or brightens depending on ambient lighting conditions for a personalized gaming experience.

There are a few issues with the XL that make its use somewhat more challenging than its predecessor, however. For example, the Start and Select buttons have now been moved under the ABXY face buttons instead of being located at the right side of the screen, and although this change could potentially improve ergonomics, it’s hard to justify given how well-suited its previous configuration was for users.

Similarly, the New 3DS XL makes it harder to access its Micro SD slot. While you won’t likely access this slot more than once or twice during its lifespan, it can be frustrating that accessing it now requires disassembling an entire unit to reach it – something to bear in mind if you plan on using your system extensively for gaming. Luckily, Nintendo is providing a solution: they have introduced a smaller form factor Micro SD card, which comes equipped with 4GB storage – double that found on traditional 3DS models!

Nintendo and hotspot provider The Cloud have joined forces to offer 3DS owners free Wi-Fi services through The Cloud’s hotspot provider The Cloud. Bring the system into a participating location, tap the Nintendo Zone icon on the HOME menu, and connect. There are over 29,000 locations worldwide, including restaurants, hotels, and airports. Once connected, you can watch 3D videos, full-length animations, sports highlights, trivia challenges, find retailer promotions, watch demos and trivia challenges, play demos and trivia challenges, and much more – available until 2022! This service will continue until 2022, at which time the service will cease operations altogether.

Origins

“Jumping beans” sold at novelty stores are actually seed pods from a shrub native to Mexico, belonging to the Euphorbiaceae spurge family. Sebastiania pavoniana can be found growing along rocky desert slopes and along arroyos throughout Sonora and Chihuahua states in springtime; moths lay their eggs on these immature green pods before hatching eggs that bore into them and began eating from within them.

Critters use their movement to spread pods as they wriggle inside them. This wiggle causes beans to jump as a natural way of dispersing pods; additionally, these movements protect from hot sun and wind.

Once they become warm, however, their pods begin to wiggle more vigorously and leap. If left exposed in such conditions for too long, however, their inhabitants could perish.

In an intriguing Deep Look episode, Wayne’s WORD team carefully observed Sebastiania pavoniana pods found in the Sonoran Desert and kept their moving seeds due to tiny larvae living inside. As these larvae curl and have spasms, which causes pods to bounce around rapidly – this likely serves as an adaptation to sunlight or intense heat that would otherwise kill off their development into pupae.

Once a caterpillar reaches its pupal stage, it cuts a partial opening at one end of its pod and creates a space that eventually splits open to release a tiny moth that lives for only a short while before depositing its eggs into newly developing seed pods – thus continuing the annual cycle.

Habitat

Mexican Jumping Beans provide an engaging form of natural entertainment. These intriguing seed pods, colonized by moth larvae, jump when exposed to heat stimulation. Sold worldwide as novelty items and providing insight into plant/insect relationships.

Tortricidae family moths, commonly referred to as jumping bean moths, are responsible for creating this unusual effect. By living inside certain species’ seeds and creating enough heat sources (sun or palm of hand), they cause these seeds to move and “jump.” Sometimes, their movements resemble more of a rocking motion than actual jumping, and they may not always do it in precisely the same way each time.

Once moth larvae have set up their homes in seeds, they use saliva to seal off their pods with them and eventually fall to the ground, ripening and then falling open, releasing seeds for feeding; within days, moths will consume these seeds before finally succumbing to death themselves.

When seed pods are collected before their seeds ripen, they remain active for months as they await moth generation to arrive. Alamos in Sonora is considered the Jumping Bean Capital of the World, where locals collect these seed pods to sell as novelty items or keep alive for up to five months by misting them weekly with water, misting them regularly with misting devices.

Pods

Mexican jumping beans wriggle and shift anxiously when held, creating an illusion that they may be insects or toys if you happen to catch one in your hand. But in truth, both might exist! If you do manage to see one for yourself, they might provide hours of fun playback!

As known by its scientific name Sebastiania pavonia), this shrub found throughout northern Mexico and the southwestern United States has seed pods known as “yerba de flecha,” or beans, that contain moth larvae living inside. Adult moths lay their eggs on this flowering plant’s flowers before its seed pods drop from its ferns in late summer, with each one containing an individually hollowed-out seed; after that, moth larvae begin chewing their way in for sustenance.

Jumping beans move due to an irregular spasm of the larva, which hits against its seed in the pod and makes it move. Theories on why they move this way vary; most agree it’s trying to find some shade from direct sunlight – otherwise, the moth would quickly overheat and die if left in direct sunlight alone! Their seemingly random movements actually help them find shade faster.

McKee and Tabatabai put their beans through rigorous tests, recording 37 moving beans on a flat surface covered with aluminum foil to dissipate heat evenly. After recording their movements, McKee and Tabatabai used computer simulation to analyze each path taken by each bean, ultimately finding that, given enough time and the right direction, jumping beans always reached shade areas; however, directed walks could prove hazardous; choosing an improper path could cause it never reaching shade at all and lead to its death.

Larvae

These peculiar “beans” are actually seed pods from Sebastiania pavoniana shrubs found clinging to dry slopes in Sonora and Chihuahua in Mexico, where Laspeyresia saltitans moth larvae lay their eggs in each pod and devour its seeds – giving each bean the appearance of being “jumping.”

Moth larvae lead a dismal existence within a jumping bean pod. Caged within its rigid walls and the hard seeds it consumes, it lives an uncomfortable reality in near darkness. Too much direct sunlight could dry out its larva and kill it; to avoid this fateful outcome, its existence requires it to jump about trying to find some shade somewhere within its pod.

There are various theories behind the phenomena of jumping bean pods, with most agreeing on its cause being larval spasms that cause them to hit against seed pod walls repeatedly, thus making the bean appear to move back and forth between sides of its pod. Many also speculate that their movements are motivated by the larvae’s desire for cooler temperatures, whether that means on the ground where pods land or being held close in someone’s warm palm.

So next time you see a jumping bean shimmying across your path, take pity on its little moth inside and nudge it towards some shade – after all, it is just trying to survive, and that is the beauty of evolution – even when trapped within its seed pod, these moths have learned how to adapt effectively despite difficult circumstances.

Movement

Northern Mexico and the Southwest feature many plants with pods known for their extraordinary movements, most famously “jumping beans.” You may have seen these distinctive pods sold at novelty shops or street vendors on both sides of the border – but what are they, and why do they bounce around so quickly? Jumping beans are seed pods from a shrub called Sebastiania pavoniana with moth larvae inside that cause them to jump.

Cydia sal titans moth larvae enter immature seed capsules and begin munching them, hitting against their walls while doing so, giving an illusion that these moths are “jumping.”

Seed pods mature by opening and expelling their contents, including larvae. Hollowed-out sections of pods containing moth larvae fall to the ground and begin their journey as jumping and hopping moth larvae, although more like rocking than jumping motion. Temperature seems to influence their movements, with intensified activity occurring as temperatures increase – potentially an effort by these capsules to move out of direct sunlight, into crevices, or under rocks where it will remain more relaxed, where they can undergo metamorphosis into adult moths.

Jumping beans have long been known to move and vibrate on warm surfaces like the palm of a hand for weeks or even months until their moth inhabitants complete metamorphosis into adults, at which point they stop shaking altogether. Wayne’s Word has found similar phenomena occurring within a minute: globose galls attached to California native oak leaves – called “jumping galls” by their infesting cynipid gall wasps – behaving similarly to jumping beans.

Tesla’s April Fool’s Day joke included a short teaser of a Cybertruck being run over but didn’t reveal any results of their testing.

Tesla insider Tegtmeyer shared some additional footage showing the results of their test on Thursday. Although the truck appears quite battered after such a rigorous workout, this should come as no surprise, given its exoskeleton construction.

Impact Strength

Tesla vehicles have earned praise from crash safety experts for their excellent record in crash tests, yet it can be challenging to predict how any new car will fare in an actual collision situation. Therefore, prior to entering production with any vehicle, it is crucial to conduct comprehensive crash testing as this will help determine if its design meets customer safety expectations in a crash situation.

Recently, the Tesla Cybertruck went through several crash tests. While no results of these tests were publicly announced by Tesla, a video posted to social media shows the truck undergoing a ditch rollover test and showing that no severe damages occurred to either its frame or bodywork – an encouraging sign for its safety features.

Experts are concerned by the Tesla Cybertruck’s absence of a crumple zone, though this style of vehicle does not necessitate one. Instead, engineers designed it with steel panels 300% thicker than industry standards to give it enough strength in an accident to protect its occupants.

The Tesla Cybertruck boasts not only its absence of a crumple zone but also bulletproof glass for added protection against foreign objects, along with nearly indestructible doors to make even greater security provisions. While most drivers won’t require this feature, its presence will nonetheless add extra peace of mind for most. The glass is coated with polymer-layered composite, rendering it impenetrable from foreign bodies. Additionally, its doors have also been reported as nearly unbreakable, making even further provisions against harm to drivers from this truck.

While some remain dubious of the Cybertruck’s abilities to withstand frontal collisions, others are convinced it can withstand any crash test scenario. With further tests scheduled in the coming months, more positive results may emerge from further evaluation of this vehicle.

The Cybertruck has yet to undergo full frontal, side impact, or rollover tests; however, the company did release a video that appeared to demonstrate an offset front test conducted by drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer during his flyover of Giga, Texas. Though little evidence can be seen here from such footage alone, it appears the Cybertruck passed its front offset test without issue.

Crumple Zone

When a vehicle crashes into something, its body deforms to absorb some of the impact, creating what is known as a crumple zone – an essential safety feature that protects vehicle occupants by lessening collision force and potentially leading to injuries. Without one, this force could have been transferred directly into the cabin, resulting in potential injuries for passengers inside.

The Tesla Cybertruck has been touted as being nearly impenetrable due to its Ultra-Hard 30X cold-rolled steel exoskeleton and armored glass construction, making it virtually impregnable. Greggertruck posted photos and videos to Instagram back in August showing what appeared to be two Tesla Cybertrucks involved in a crash test at the Giga Texas facility. Both vehicles experienced extensive damage; front airbags were deployed, the windshield cracked severely, doors dislocated from hinges, and metal panels were bent or dented by their impact.

Tesla vehicles have earned top safety scores in crash tests conducted both domestically and abroad, so it is expected that its Cybertruck will also perform admirably during its difficulties. It will be fascinating to witness its performance when agencies such as NHTSA and IIHS conduct comprehensive evaluations with dummies and sensors attached.
